Biography

      Elsa Valdez is a Director of Photography, Gaffer, Camera Operator, Editor, Kundalini Yoga Teacher and Shaman living and working in Los Angeles, California. Elsa’s professional film career began as a video editor, camera operator & photographer more than 2 decades ago. Since graduating from The American Film Institute Conservatory with an MFA in Cinematography in 2009, Elsa has directed the photography for award winning Documentaries, ESPN, Apple Aps, Live Concert Music Festivals, Reality & Webisode Series & several short narrative films & music videos. In addition to mentoring young female filmmakers through the She Sees Film Program, the short film “No Women’s Face Remember” that Ms. Valdez directed the photography for screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. “Dynamic, experienced, resilient & creative with a natural eye for composition and lighting, Elsa is a versatile, professional filmmaker & collaborator with a powerful voice. She is currently a guest lecturer teaching lighting workshops at the New York Film Academy and Special Faculty at The California Institute of the Arts teaching introduction to the DSLR and Post Production work flow in Premier. Her next film projects are editing the photography she directed for “Day of Inner Peace” the Peruvian Despacho taking place at Liberation Studio in Los Angeles, CA. and Directing the Photography for Sat Nam West 2018, Joshua Tree, CA for Spirit Voyage.
